Angelina Jolie (originally Angelina Jolie Voight) is an American actress and director, famous for her sexual edginess, sex appeal, and humanitarian work. Jolie, the daughter and actor Jon Voight, was raised in New York. After her growing up, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she was an inpatient with mental illness in Girl, interrupted (1999). She attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years, and then enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. Then she went on to study acting at New York University. In addition to acting in theater productions, she also performed as a model and in music videos.Jolie's first big film performance was in Hackers (1995) in the filming of which she got married to her first husband, British actor Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996; divorced 1999). As with several subsequent films, the film did not attract a crowd. Jolie was the segregationist spouse of Alabama's governor. She received lots of attention in 1997. She later received a Golden Globe Award. She played the role of an actress who is struggling with addiction to drugs in the HBO film Gia in 1999. This performance earned her numerous honours including the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. In 1999, she appeared in the comedy Pushing Tin with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, and the following year , she was married to Billy Bob Thornton (divorced 2003).After the Oscar-winning role in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie appeared in a string of action films. In Gone in Sixty Seconds ((2000)), she played the role of Nicole Cage's girlfriend. She later adopted a British accent and learned street fighting and kickboxing for the role of the title in Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life (2004). Jolie played Alexander's mother in Oliver stone's Alexander in 2004 and also starred with Jude Law and Gwyneth paltrow in Sky Captain: The World of Tomorrow, a thriller about science fiction set in 1930s New York City. Both films failed at box office, but Jolie had a great time in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). She was a housewife who pretends to play an assassin. While making the film, she came across Brad Pitt who became her partner.
