Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed she was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan (Duggan) who was a former actress and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths teacher. Her family heritage includes Ruthenian, Polish and Irish in addition to German. ("Hyra") is her Ruthenian surname "Ryan", is her maternal grandmother's maiden name. Meg was graduated in June 1979 Bethel highschool, Bethel. After moving to New York, she attended New York University where she majored in journalism. Meg Ryan is her new name, began acting to earn extra cash while she completed her education. Her debut on screen came in 1981 with a short appearance as Candice Bergen's daughter in George Cukor's last film Rich and Famous (1981). She was cast in the part of Betsy in the TV soap as the World Turns (1956) after she had a go at. From 1982 to 1984, she was a member of the ensemble. Meg also played a role in the TV series One of the Boys (1982) but the show was eventually removed. She moved to Hollywood in 1984 and was offered an offer to appear on the western TV series Wildside (1985). Meg's tiny role in the blockbuster film Top Gun (1986) led to her being part of Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she co-starred alongside Dennis Quaid. In D.O.A.'s remake, she again co-starred with Dennis Quaid. (1988) and the couple tied the knot on Saint Valentine's Day in 1991. Meg appeared in 1989's When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the scene in the restaurant became famous. Meg was nominated both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. She starred alongside Tom in the very successful Sleepless in Seattle (1993) for which she was again nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg determined to stand out from the crowd in 1994 when she played the part of Meg as a drunken mother/wife in When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). Then, she went back to "cute" with both I.Q. (1994) & French Kiss (1995). In 1994, Meg won the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award as "Woman of the Year" and was named as being one of "The 50 most beautiful women in the world 1994" by People Magazine.
